Desktop Software Installation Instructions
Desktop & Printer Requirements & Standards

Desktop Installations

• Install SUN JRE 1.5.15 or Higher & Perform Litmus Test
• Install ChemDraw (Optional)

Install SUN JRE 1.5.15 or Higher & Perform Litmus Test

Follow the installation instructions for installing SUN JRE 1.5.15 or higher and performing the litmus test found at the following url: http://www.upenn.edu/computing/provider/docs/jreinstall.html (Note: You will be prompted to enter your PennKey ID and password in order to obtain a copy of the SUN JRE software.)

Install ChemDraw (Optional)

1. In IE, go to Tools > Internet Options > Select the Advanced Tab > Scroll down to Security (the last group)
2. Uncheck the "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" option. This is the fourth option from the top.
3. Open an Internet Explorer Browser window.
4. Enter the following URL http://benapps.isc-seo.upenn.edu
5. Select BEN Financials
6. Login to BEN Financials using the LSP46 user ID & password (ID & password are the same)
7. Select the Requisitioner responsibility
8. Select Home Page
9. Select Shop at Penn Marketplace
10. Click on Advance Search tab
11. Click on Chemicals
12. Click on Proceed to Substructure Search
13. You will see an alert saying that the CS ChemDraw ActiveX control is not installed, and offering to install it.
14. Click OK. This will take you to the CambridgeSoft home page where you will need to log in.
15. If you are not a registered user, click on Become A Member to register.
16. You will have to register with a username, password & email address. You will be prompted with 3 more windows. Enter information as appropriate. This takes 2-3 minutes
17. Click Download when prompted to download ChemDraw ActiveX/Plugin Net 7.0 Download Edition Windows Download.
18. Save the cdpn701.exe file to the C Drive.
19. Click Open Folder when prompted.
20. Once logged into the CambridgeSoft plugin page, click the Install button.
21. Follow the prompts. It takes about 3 minutes to install the plugin.
