XP SP2 Configuration
Desktop & Printer Requirements & Standards

The XP SP2 configuration installer makes two alterations to the user's system:

1. Allowing a firewall exception for Internet Explorer and javaw.exe
2. Internet Explorer configuration changes (adding BEN Financials web sites to Trusted Sites and Popup exception list) for each BEN Financials user account on the machine

The BEN XP SP2 configuration installer should be initially run by the LSP under an administrative account on each individual machine. (The firewall changes are made on a per-system basis -- they cannot be modified for individual users, and require administrative permissions to make changes.)

Upon launching the XP SP2 configuration installer, a prompt appears asking whether or not MarkView has been previously configured on the machine. If it is a new setup, then the LSP will be prompted for the account name(s) that will be setup for BEN Financials.

**Note: these accounts must already have existing Windows user profiles on the machine**

The installer will then make the necessary firewall exceptions for Internet Explorer and javaw.exe (Note: there will be a javaw.exe exception for each specified user.) In addition, the necessary Internet Explorer configuration changes will be made for each specified user account. If it is an existing MarkView installation, the installer will not prompt for account name(s) and instead, will detect which user(s) have BEN Financials installed, and make the necessary exceptions for Internet Explorer and javaw.exe. (Note: there will be a javaw.exe exception for each user.) In addition, the necessary Internet Explorer configuration changes will be made for each of the user accounts.

To download the BEN XP SP2 configuration installer (ben_xpsp2.exe), enter the following URL http://www.upenn.edu/computing/software/provider/ben/ben_xpsp2.exe in Internet Explorer’s Address field or click here to initiate the download. You will be prompted to enter your PennKey ID and password before the downloading begins.
