BEN Buys is a web based system that will allow purchasers to shop
for supplies from electronic catalogs for University approved vendors. The
selected items will be used to create an online requisition that will in turn
be routed for any required approvals. The approved requisition will then be
converted into one or more purchase orders in the University’s purchasing
system, and the purchase orders will be sent to the corresponding suppliers.
The major goals of the system are to 1) reduce the administrative effort
required to create purchase orders and 2) improve the accuracy of the data
on our purchase orders to promote invoice matching and automatic encumbrance relief.
