[ Accounting ]

The accounting function of the Office of the Comptroller is segregated into the below components,

• Financial Reporting and Budget Analysis
• Accounting Operations

Financial Reporting and Budget Analysis is responsible for the University's internal and external financial reporting, as well as monitoring actual performance versus budget. Their functions include:

• Preparation of monthly and annual financial statements for the University and its subsidiaries
• Monitoring of individual school/center actual performance versus budget
• Serving as a liaison between the University and its external auditors
• Preparing ad-hoc information requests for external agencies and analysts
• Planning and performing the monthly and annual financial accounting closing process

Accounting Operations is responsible for the following functions:

• Monthly reconciliations of the University's operating cash account
•  Reporting of unclaimed property
• Accounting for transactions between the University and its related entity's
• Maintaining BEN Assets ( the subsidiary records of the University's fixed assets)
