Introduction

This Web site provides important information for all trustees, officers, and employees of the University of Pennsylvania, UPHS, and other associated parties regarding the IRS Intermediate Sanctions excise taxes. This site explains what Intermediate Sanctions are, how they can adversely impact members of the Penn family, how they can indirectly hurt Penn, and steps that should be taken to avoid imposition of these excise taxes.

Contents of This Web Site
This site contains a brief overview of the Intermediate Sanctions rules and definitions of terms as well as more technical materials on the topic. It contains a Powerpoint presentation useful in educating yourself and your staff on critical aspects of these rules. Most importantly, the site contains the names of key Penn contacts who are available to answer any questions in this area and to assist you in protecting against assessment of these penalty taxes.
