FAQ 06:
I have an employee who has been allowed to return to work with certain restrictions. How do I know when the employee is cleared to go back to work without restrictions?
An employee with a work-related injury is responsible for completing follow-up treatment.
For a 90-day period from the first visit for a work-related injury, program, the injured employee must select and visit one of the licensed physicians or practitioners of the healing arts from the listing of Designated Healthcare Providers
Once the employee has been evaluated as being fit to return to work with no restrictions, the attending practitioner will issue an updated Medical Evaluation form.
- Upon receipt of the updated Medical Evaluation form, the injured employee may be returned to regular duty.
- Be sure to forward a copy of the updated Medical Evaluation form to the Office of Risk Management and Insurance.
- In this case, no changes need to be made to the employee's payroll record.
- Follow-up medical treatment will be required to monitor restrictions. Any change in status will require an updated Medical Evaluation form.
Note: If the injured employee still requires treatment after the initial 90-day period, they may choose to go to another licensed physician or practitioner of the healing arts for treatment.
In this case, the employee must notify their Case Manager at Broadspire as well as their supervisor and/or payroll administrator of their decision within five (5) days of their visit to the physician or practitioner.
