[ Workers' Compensation ]
FAQ 07:
I've received a completed release form that indicates that the injured employee may return to work with certain restrictions. Unfortunately, our department would have difficulty in accommodating these restrictions. How should this be handled?
While University departments are encouraged to accommodate requests for "light" or "restricted" duty, this may not always be possible.
Be sure to contact the Office of Risk Management and Insurance to resolve any questions before determining that accommodations cannot be made?
If it is determined that it is not possible to accommodate the request for restricted duty, the injured employee should be put on a Workers' Compensation leave of Absence.
For detailed information, please refer to:
Office of Risk Management and Insurance Policy 2608: Occupational Injury or Illness
Note: See FAQ008 for instructions on putting an employee on a Workers' Compensation leave of Absence.
