FAQ 10:
I have an employee who has been placed on a Workers' Compensation Leave of Absence. How do I know when the employee is cleared to return to work?
An employee with a work-related injury is responsible for completing follow-up treatment.
For a 90-day period* from the first visit for a work-related injury, program, the injured employee must select and visit one of the following Designated Healthcare Providers
*Note: If the injured employee still requires treatment after the initial 90-day period, they may choose to go to another licensed physician or practitioner of the healing arts for treatment.
In this case, the employee must notify their supervisor and/or payroll administrator of their decision within five (5) days of their visit to the physician or practitioner.
Once the employee has been evaluated as being fit to return to work with no restrictions, the attending practitioner will issue an updated release form.
Upon receipt of the updated release form, the injured employee may return to work.
Note: See FAQ011 regarding processing an employee's return from a Workers' Compensation Leave of Absence.
