The department of Investment Services is comprised of Gift Accounting, Securities Gifts, Investment Accounting and Trust Administration functions. Investment Services provides administrative services for the University's external and internal investments.
Gifts Accounting is responsible for the timely and accurate recording, depositing and accounting for all donations and pledges to Penn. In addition to accounting for gifts at the time of a pledge, Gifts has ongoing responsibility to monitor the gift payment flows and to provide management information on gifts to representatives of both the Finance and Development offices. Securities Gifts has responsibility for the acceptance, retention or liquidation of all security gifts to the University of Pennsylvania. Investment Accounting is responsible for accounting for the University's investments. Its functions include: daily cash reconciliation with custodian banks; monthly updating of the University's accounting systems; monthly reconciliation of cash and investments between the University accounting system and custodial bank records; monthly evaluation of Associated Investment Funds (AIF); monthly preparation of final statements for investments and monthly posting of AIF income to appropriate funds. Trust Administration functions to support internal endowments, trusts and other funds as well as external trust and works closely with Investment Accounting.
