Fundamentals of Driver Safety Curriculum
Who Should Register
This course is required for any individual (employee, faculty, or student) who may drive a University owned or leased vehicle as part of their job duties. This extends to those individuals who may rent a vehicle for use on University business.
There will be certain employees, such as Penn Police, Facilities and Transportation, who will be exempt from these requirements due to other driver safety training they are required to attend.
Please note: Before you can drive a vehicle on behalf of the University you must successfully complete the on-line course(s). Compliance with these requirements is mandatory. Failure to do so may result in:
- Removal of driving privileges
- Unreimbursed rental car expenses
- 100% of vehicle repair costs by the department in the event of an accident

Curriculum Description
Fundamentals of Driver Safety Curriculum consists of the following seven modules:
- AlertDriving: Driving at Penn – Training Requirements Overview
- AlertDriving: Successfully Navigating Intersections
- AlertDriving: Deadly Distractions
- AlertDriving: Lane Changes and Proper Use of Mirrors
- AlertDriving: Safe Freeway Driving
- AlertDriving: Defensive Driving Escape Routes
- AlertDriving: Weather Conditions
